Experience Troy 2025

That’s why the Detroit Zoo chose to partner with social enterprise company, Rebel Nell to create the Detroit Zoo Collection. Rebel Nell repurposes graffiti and meaningful materials into wearable art. For the Detroit Zoo Collection specifically, jewelry and home goods were crafted from zoo’s iconic water tower and Parade of Animals mural. This collaboration highlights the commitment to community and conservation for both the Detroit Zoo and Rebel Nell. “Working with the Detroit Zoo, an organization that shares our values of environmental stewardship and education, has inspired a collection that celebrates both our city's history and its commitment to preserving nature. Now you can take home a piece of the Zoo’s history…literally,” said Amy Peterson, CEO and Co-founder of Rebel Nell. A portion of proceeds from the Detroit Zoo Collection will be used to support the Zoo’s numerous conservation initiatives and educational programs. Hayley Murphy, Executive Director and CEO of the Detroit Zoological Society, expressed her enthusiasm about the collaboration: “This collaboration allows our community to own a piece of Detroit Zoo history. Not only is each piece in the collection stunning, but every purchase helps support our purpose of igniting positive change for animals and nature.” To learn more about the Detroit Zoo & Rebel Nell, visit www.detroitzoo.org and www.rebelnell.com. The Troy Chamber’s “Step Up to the Plate” program, in partnership with the Troy School District, has been a cornerstone initiative, fostering collaboration between Troy Chamber member businesses and restaurants, and the Troy School District. This partnership not only generates excitement among families and local Troy Chamber member businesses, but also enhances school funding through community engagement. For over fifteen years, the program has raised approximately $30,000, which directly benefits educational programs and resources in the Troy School District. McVee’s Pub & Grub has participated in the program for many years. “We have enjoyed being a part of the “Step Up to the Plate” program year after year,” says Reef Palaj, owner at McVee’s Pub & Grub. “We love watching the community come together to support each other, the kids, the Troy School District and local businesses. We appreciate continued support from the community and the Troy Chamber and look forward to serving you for years to come.” The program not only encourages parents and students to support local restaurants, but the surrounding business community. Many Troy Chamber member companies have been known to cater lunch for their employees during the week-long promotion. The added incentive of a $1,000 cash prize for the school with the most returned receipts motivates healthy competition and engagement.
